TiviMate IPTV setup with an Open Tivi subscription
TiviMate turns a Fire TV Stick or Android TV box into a proper TV guide. Add your Open Tivi playlist and you get 35,000+ live channels with full EPG in a few minutes.
What TiviMate is and why people love it
TiviMate is a third-party IPTV player built for the big screen. It has no channels of its own; you bring a subscription, and it presents your channels in a guide that looks and feels like a traditional set-top box. Open Tivi doesn't make or sell TiviMate, but it's one of the players our customers use most.
The catch is that TiviMate only runs on Android TV-based devices: Fire TV Sticks and Fire TV Cube, Google TV and Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia Shield, Android TV boxes and televisions running Android TV or Google TV. There's no version for iPhone, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS or Windows. On those, IPTV Smarters Pro or another player is the better fit.
Every Open Tivi plan includes the two things TiviMate needs: an Xtream Codes login and an M3U playlist link, plus an EPG link for the guide. Start the free trial with no credit card and you can have TiviMate set up in a few minutes.
What you get in TiviMate
The free version covers the basics. TiviMate Premium is a paid upgrade bought through the app maker's companion app.
Free: live TV and guide
One playlist, live channels, the full EPG grid and channel groups. Enough to try Open Tivi and see how it looks on your TV.
Premium: multiple playlists
Add more than one playlist, handy if you keep a second login alongside your main one.
Premium: catch-up
Replay programmes that already aired on channels that support catch-up, straight from the guide.
Premium: recording
Record live programmes, or schedule recordings straight from the TV guide.
Premium: favorites management
Build your own favorites lists, reorder channels and hide the groups you never watch.
Multiple connections
Install TiviMate on each TV and use the same login. Your plan sets how many screens can stream at once, from 1 to 4.
Adding Open Tivi to TiviMate
Menu labels can vary slightly between TiviMate versions, but the flow stays the same.
Install TiviMate
On Google TV and Android TV, install it from Google Play. On Fire TV, use the Downloader app; our Firestick guide walks through it.
Choose Add playlist, then Xtream Codes
Open TiviMate, select "Add playlist" and pick "Xtream Codes". Enter the server URL, username and password from your welcome email.
Name the playlist and finish
TiviMate checks the login and counts your channels and movies. Give the playlist a name, press Done, and the guide starts loading.
Browse the guide
Press the menu button to switch between channel groups, and open the guide grid to see what's on now and next.
M3U playlists and the TV guide
If you'd rather use a playlist link, choose "M3U playlist" instead of Xtream Codes on the add playlist screen and paste the M3U URL from your Open Tivi dashboard.
With Xtream Codes, TiviMate picks up the EPG automatically. With an M3U playlist, go to Settings, then EPG, add the EPG URL from your email, and update it. Give the guide a few minutes to fill on the first run. Catch-up works on supported channels once Premium is active: look for the archive icon in the guide and scroll back.
Which device should you run TiviMate on?
A Fire TV Stick 4K is an affordable way in and handles TiviMate well. Nvidia Shield and recent Google TV devices feel snappier with large channel lists. Our Android TV guide covers Google TV models, and our installation page has setup videos for every device.
Whatever you choose, aim for 10 Mbps per screen for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K, and use 5 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet for the TV that matters most.
TiviMate IPTV: common questions
No. TiviMate Premium is an optional upgrade for the app itself, sold by its developer. Your channels come from a separate IPTV subscription, such as an Open Tivi plan.
No. The free version plays live channels with the full guide. Premium adds extras like multiple playlists, catch-up, recording and favorites management.
No. TiviMate only runs on Android TV-based devices such as Fire TV, Google TV, Nvidia Shield and Android TV boxes. On other devices, use IPTV Smarters Pro or another supported player.
Xtream Codes is simpler because it loads channels, movies and the TV guide together. M3U works too; you just add the EPG link yourself under Settings.
On the first run the EPG can take a few minutes to download. If it stays empty, open Settings, then EPG, and update it, or check that the EPG URL from your email was added correctly.
