IPTV for Android TV, Google TV and Nvidia Shield
The most flexible platform for IPTV: the widest choice of player apps, quick setup and smooth 4K playback on capable hardware.
Why Android TV is the easiest home for IPTV
If you're looking for IPTV for Android TV, you've already picked the platform with the most options. Android TV and Google TV run on smart TVs from Sony, TCL, Philips and Hisense, on the Chromecast with Google TV, the Nvidia Shield and countless Android TV boxes. They share the same app store and remote-friendly interface, so one setup method works almost everywhere.
That's why Android TV is so flexible: it has the best selection of IPTV players, including TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro, free or low-cost third-party apps that Open Tivi doesn't make or sell. They handle Xtream Codes logins, M3U playlists, a full TV guide and catch-up.
Your Open Tivi subscription includes 35,000+ live channels from 120+ countries and 95,000+ movies and series on demand, in HD and FHD with 4K on supported channels. Login details arrive by email within minutes, so most people are watching in about ten minutes.
What you get with IPTV on Android TV
Android TV gives you more control over your viewing than any other TV platform.

One login, many screens
Plans with 1 to 4 connections let you use the same account on your Shield, a bedroom TV and a phone.
Sideloading when you need it
If a player isn't listed in your region's Google Play store, the Downloader app lets you install it directly.
Set up IPTV on Android TV in four steps
Menu names vary a little by brand and Android version, but the process is the same on every device.
Get your login
Start a free trial or choose a plan. Your Xtream Codes login, M3U link and EPG URL arrive by email within minutes.
Install a player from Google Play
Search Google Play for TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro and install it. If it isn't listed, install the Downloader app, allow it under "Install unknown apps", and sideload the player.
Add your playlist
In TiviMate choose "Add playlist", then "Xtream Codes", and enter the server URL, username and password. In IPTV Smarters Pro choose "Login with Xtream Codes API".
Load the guide and watch
With an Xtream Codes login the TV guide usually loads on its own. If it doesn't, paste your EPG URL into the player's EPG settings.
Which Android TV hardware handles 4K best?
Almost any Android TV device plays HD and FHD channels well. For 4K, look for 4K output and hardware HEVC decoding, the video format most 4K streams use. Many recent Google TV sets and better quality Android TV boxes qualify. Very cheap boxes sometimes claim 4K but struggle with HEVC, which shows up as stutter on 4K channels.
More RAM also keeps the guide responsive with thousands of channels loaded. Choosing between an Android TV box and a Fire TV Stick? Both run the same players; our Firestick IPTV guide covers the Fire TV side.
Network tips for smooth playback
Plan on at least 10 Mbps per screen for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K. Wired Ethernet is the most reliable connection, and most TVs and many boxes have an Ethernet port. On Wi-Fi, use your router's 5 GHz band rather than 2.4 GHz.
If a channel ever buffers, the fixes in our IPTV buffering guide apply to Android TV too. Our installation page has step-by-step videos for every device.
